The importance of this temple is that it is related to the Ramayana period. Â During the war with Ravana, Lakshman fell unconscious and only way to cure him was to bring “Sanjeevani booti” from Himalaya’s. When Hanuman went to Himalaya’s to bring this medicine, he was not able to find it and hence decided to lift the whole “Sanjeevani” parvat and take it to Sri Ram. While flying from Himalaya to SriLanka, half of the hill broke and fell at this place and hence this name “ArdhaGiri” and this place “Aragonda”.
