Friends, let me take you today to Sri Ardhagiri Anjaneya Swamy Temple at Aragonda , Chitoor district, Andhra Pradesh also called as Aragonda Temple.
This is another important temple in the Chitoor district of Andhra Pradesh which relates to the period of Ramayana.

“Ardh” means “half” and “Giri” means “Mountain”. This place is famous by the name “ArdhGiri”. People also know this place as “Aragonda”. This village is called as Aragonda and hill as Ardhigiri.

The importance of this temple is that it is related to the Ramayana period.
Aragonda Temple History
During the war with Ravana, Lakshman fell unconscious and only way to cure him was to bring “Sanjeevani booti” from Himalaya’s.
When Hanuman went to Himalaya’s to bring this medicine, he was not able to find it and hence decided to lift the whole “Sanjeevani” parvat and take it to Sri Ram.
While flying from Himalaya to SriLanka, half of the hill broke and fell at this place and hence this name “ArdhaGiri” and this place “Aragonda”.
Sanjeevaraya Pushkarini at Aragonda Temple
This is a pond located at ArdhGiri. It is believed that this pond contains medicinal water and cures diseases.
This pond never dries up and also the water of this pond never gets spoiled. People fill this water in a bottle and take it home.
This is the one of the most important Hanuman temples of South India. Each day thousands of devotees come to visit this temple.
Specifically on the full moon day, there is lot of rush as huge no. of devotees visit Ardhigiri. It is said that it was full moon day when Sri Hanuman took the journey back from Himalayas to SriLanka.
The temple structure is also unique as the sunrays first fall on to the feel of Sri Anjaneya and as days progresses, the rays go up finally falling on the head of the statue.

How to reach Sri Ardhagiri Anjaneya Swamy Temple / How to reach Aragonda Temple
(Ardhagiri, Paimagham, Andhra Pradesh)
Ardhigiri is around 170 Kms from Bangalore and 76 Kms from Devsthan Tirupati.
If you are travelling from Bangalore you have to take below route
Bangalore – > Hoskote – > Kolar – > Mulgabal – > Bangarupalem (NH4)
You have to take left at Bangarupalem.
Or you can reach Chitoor and from there you can go to Aradhigiri. Its approximately 30 mins from Chitoor.
