But do you know that Hyderabad features a number of well-known temples. It has a very rich cultural past. Today Hyderabad is one of the prominent IT cities in the country , but it is also home to many large new and ancient temples and many historical monuments.

Lord Jagannath Temple

Jagannath Temple, constructed by the Odia community and dedicated to the lord Jagannath is situated in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad.

Built in red sandstone and in old shikara design the temple looks very beautiful.

The temple also has smaller shrines for Ma Lakshmi, Lord Shiva, Lord Ganesha, Lord Hanuman, and Navagraha in addition to the main deity.

It is a relatively new temple and the construction completed in 2009.

This temple is well-known for its yearly Rathyatra celebration, which attracts tens of thousands of devotees.

Birla Mandir

The white marble building of the temple looks very impressive. Has stuuning stone carving and many idols of Lord Ganesha, Brahma, Saraswati, Vishnu, Shiva, and Hanuman in addition to the main shrine.

ISKCON Temple Hyderabad

This temple is devoted to Lord Krishna, and mornings and nights are filled with the sounds of bhajans. Many cultural, educational, spiritual, and social events held here.

The temple also hosts daily classes in Sanskrit, Bhagvad Gita and Upnishadas.

Shri Ratnalayam Temple

‘Devoted to Lord Venkateswara, Goddess Padmavati, and Goddess Andal, Ratnalayam is one of the most famous temples near Hyderabad.

This is an age-old temple where Shanku, Chakram, and Namam are structured in the form of fountains. But what attracts maximum tourists here is the fountain showcasing the heavenly scene of Lord Vishnu resting on Adishesha.

The temple comprises of Yagashala, Kalyana Katta, Pravachanam Hall, a huge manicured garden and a fascinating sculpture of Lord Krishna dancing on Kalindi-the poisonous snake.

Shri Chilkur Balaji Temple

This divine place is popularly known as ‘Visa Balaji Temple’. Situated on the banks of Osman Sagar this temple is dedicated to Lord Balaji.

It is 33 Kms away from Mehedipatnam. Approximately 75,000 to 1,00,000 devotees visit in a week. It’s heavy rush on Fridays and Sundays so plan accordingly.

Temple is known for fulfilling devotees’ wishes to get a visa for going overseas. Hence it is called as Visa Balaji Temple.

Chilkur balaji is also known for being one of the very few temples in India without any hundi or donation box

This temple claims not to accept any money from devotees visiting.

Shri Kesari Hanuman Temple

This temple is a very famous one dedicated to Lord Hanuman. This is a 300-year-old temple.

As per mythology, it is believed that during ancient times in Ramayana period, Lord Hanuman visited this place.

Sri Ram Navami and Sri Hanuman Jayanti are celebrated on a very big scale here with various devotees swarming in for large numbers.

Sanghi Temple

Located on the top of the hillock Paramanand Giri hill at Sanghi Nagar this temple is at a distance of 35 km from Hyderabad city. The increased popularity of this place can also be attributed to various movie shoots which happens here.

This temple is managed by the famous industrialist – Sanghi Group.
It’s architectural beauty in the style of Chola-Chalukya is captivating.

Along with the main deity of Lord Venkateshwara, one can find various other Hindu Gods here. The idol of the main deity is said to be the replica of the one in Tirumala.

Ma Ashtalakshmi Temple

Another famoys tempe ib hyderabad. This temple is dedicated to the Goddess of wealth, Lakshmi for as she brings prosperity and happiness as well as salvation. There are about134 vigrahams (idols) of lesser-known gods.

What makes this temple a must visit is the fact that there are very few temples in India where Goddess Lakshmi is seen in her eight splendorous forms.

Pedamma Temple
