Servarayan Temple (Shevaroy Temple) location

Servarayan temple is located in cave on the top of the Shevaroy hills in the city of Yercaud near Salem in Tamil Nadu.

Yercuad is a small but beautiful hill station in Salem district and located in the Shevaroy hill range and this historical and beautiful temple is located at the highest point in yercuad at the altitude of 1623 meters or 5326 feet.

The top of the hill where this temple is located is a flat surface and looks like a plateau. Because of which at top of the hill apart from temple you will also find few shops and activities like horse riding ATV etc.

But the view from top is amazing. There is a view point from which you get to see the city. But my suggestion is to walk around and enjoy the view. The surface is flat and hence gives you a nice area to stroll around with family and friends and enjoy the natures beauty.

There are small shop where you can buy some thing to eat, water , juice etc. You will also find restrooms there. Ample parking space.

The best part of this trip is journey to the top. It is so amazing with lot of spots which offers you a panoramic view of the area.

The hill gives an amazing view of all other hills around and the town of Yercaud. From my perspective this is one of the best spots in Yercaud which you should visit.

The cave has idol of Lord Servaryan and Goddess Kaveri. The Servarayan hills are named after the Lord and Goddess Kaveri represent the river Kaveri.

It is also believed that the cave actually extends further deep behind the idol of Ma Kaveri and lord Servarayan. It is believed that river cauvery somewhere meets the cave further down. But of course you cannot go beyond the idols in the cave.

The cave itself is very narrow.

We spoke to the priest of the temple and came to to know that the temple itself is more than 1000 years old and lord Servarayan has been worshiped here from time immemorial .

All the villagers from around the area gather at the temple for a annual festival which is celebrated during the month of May.

There is a well near the temple. It is a old well and people say that it is a wishing well.
