Shri Komuravelli Mallanna Temple also known as Komuravelli Mallikarjuna Swamy Temple is located on a hill called Indrakeeladri in Komuravelli village in the Warangal District, of the state of Telangana .

The temple is around 85Kms from Hyderabad and is located near Siddipet on SH – 1 ( Hyderabad – Mancherial Hwy ).

The temple is maintained by the Endowments Department of the state government.

The main deity of the temple is Shri Mallanna or Mallikarjuna Swamy who is an incarnation of Lord Shiva.

In Maharashtra the diety is also known as Lord Khandoba. The temple is located about 85 kilometers from Hyderabad.

One day, Lord Mallikarjuna appeared to a shepherd in a dream and told him that he had created the hill Indrakeeladri and had placed a shrine there on Putta Matti (Soft Earth) to grant the wishes of the followers.

The devotees have a strong conviction that by worshipping the deity Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Devasthanam, their wishes are fulfilled.

Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Devasthanam temple is dedicated to fierce looking diety Lord Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy along with Kethamma and Medalamma on both sides of the deity.

This is one of the most visited and well-known temples in Telangana. On various occasions, people from all over the state visit this temple.

The Komuravelli ‘Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Devasthanam’ is a renowned Siva temple in Andhra Pradesh & Telangana.

The pilgrims often refer to the god as ‘Komaravelli Mallana’. It is believed that the deity of Lord Mallikarjuna Swamy which is a clay molded is made around 500 years back.

The temple is located in a cave on a hillock known as – ‘Indrakeeladri’ . It is at a distance of 110 Kms from the city of warangal.

What is unique about Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Devasthanam – Komuravelli

The temple is unique. In this temple lord Shiva appears here in ‘vigraha rupam'(statue).

Usually in all other Lord Shiva temples we see lord Shiva in the usual ‘linga rupam’.

Facilities at the temple

Every year Lakhs of pilgrims visit this temple. On the eve of Makara Sankranthi there is a huge rush of devotees as during this time of the year the Brahmotsavam starts in Komauravelli.

Facilities at the temple include mandapamas and choultries, rest rooms, water facility etc. The facilities are renovated from time to time.

Pedda Patnam which is celebrated on the Maha Sivaratri usually attracts lakhs of pilgrims.

Sri Mallikarjuna Swamy Devasthanam made provisions for the devotees to do online reservations for various pujas, offerings for annadanam and various other sevas.

The lord is said to have settled here after marrying ‘Gollakethamma’ from the Yadava community and ‘Medalamma’ from the Linga Balija community.

As a result, both goddesses are worshipped equally here. And, representatives from both the Yadava and Balija communities are in charge of all key rites.

The temple is located in Komuravelli on the Hyderabad – Mancherial Hwy Highway which is also known as Rajiv Rahadari

  • By Air : The nearest airport is at Hyderabad which is 85 km away from the temple.
  • By Train – The nearest railway station is at Janagam which is 45 km away. The direct bus is available from Janagam to the temple.
  • By Road – Direct buses are available from all major cities in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.  The temple is 22 km from Siddipet and 110 km from Warangal railway station.
