Friends let me take you today to one if the ancient Kali Mata temples. The temple I am referring to is Patiala Kali Mata Mandir , an ancient Kali Mata Mandir in Patiala in Punjab.

The temple is dedicated to Ma Kaali and in an important places of worship in the city and region.

The temple is located on the Mall Road area of the city. This magnificent temple is situated just in front of the Baradari Garden next to the Rajendra Tank.

Patiala Kali Mata Mandir history

The Patiala Kali Mata Mandir was built by the late Maharaja Bhupinder Singh in 1936.

The Maharaja brought the six-foot idol of Kali Devi and the “pawan jyoti” (sacred flame) from Kolkatta ( then called as Calcutta )

The Patiala Maharajas were a great supportes and promoters of art and culture and this temple is a living testimony of that. The temple is an architectural wonder.

A much older temple of Shri Raj Rajeshwari ji is also situated in the center of this complex.

Temple’s infrastructure as I mentioned before is amazing and it has been declared a national monument.

How to reach Shri Kali Devi Patiala Temple

Shri Kali Devi Temple is located just one kilometer away from Bus Stand and Railway Station.

The temple can be reached in 10 minutes on foot from bus stand and railway station and only five minutes by rickshaw or three wheeler.

Langar is arranged in the temple daily for the devotees.

Due to the location of the temple on the Mall Road, people can stand outside the temple and bow their heads.

Please also note that lakhs of devotees visit the temple during Navratri festival.

The worship of nine goddesses is also done with rituals.

A fair is held around the temple and vehicles are banned from passing through the Mall Road for nine days.
